RE: MORIAH WIND SYSTEM INTERIM CERTIFICATION
USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73)

The Moriah Wind System (MWS) was satisfactorily installed on the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) during June and July 2003. In early August the MWS on the CVN-73 was thoroughly checked out by the Naval Air Systems Command (PMA-251) and an INTERIM CERTIFICATION was granted by NAVAIR to the CVN-73 for operation of the MWS underway.

THE MORIAH WIND SYSTEM (MWS) COMPONENTS, RELATIVE WIND SPEED/DIRECTION AND HEADWIND/CROSSWIND DATA MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF REF C [PRELIMINARY MORIAH CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT] AND MWS IS GRANTED AN INTERIM CERTIFICATION. INTERIM CERTIFICATION IS VALID UNTIL 19 DEC 2003 TO INCLUDE OPEVAL OF THE MWS.

A FULL SYSTEM CERTIFICATION WILL BE GRANTED UPON SUCCESSFUL
COMPLETION OF MWS OPEVAL.//
